Now, if you've received an email like I've described above, you will have set up your website correctly so that your visitors will have subscribed ("opted-in") by filling in his or her personal details on your sign up form  ....YES? - that's great - well done!

For those of you who answered " NO" - and you don't know how to build a capture page or form - or even know what I'm talking about ...... Ooops! .... you've just lost your chance of ever knowing that you even had a visitor, let alone who your visitor was or, indeed, how to contact them!

Your list is vital to your success ... and if you haven't got a method in place to capture your visitors details - you could be losing sales right now!

Do you know that you only have approximately 5 seconds in which to grab your potential customers attention?

It's also a well known fact that over 65% of your potential customers will never buy from you the first time they click on your website! - and what's more, it's very unlikely, those leaving your site in those first few precious seconds will ever click on your website again!

That's why it's absolutely essential to capture your visitors details in order to gain potential customers which you can convert into paying customers.


Where does Automation come in?

Ok - the first place is your advertising - you will have to advertise in order to let people know about your website. To ensure you are marketing effectively and profitably, you need to track each advertisement that you place. This can all be done automatically with an automated "tracking" system.

When people respond to your advertising and visit your website you must make them an "offer".  In order to take advantage of this "offer"  the  visitor has to complete a "form".

This "offer" can be a free newsletter, course, report, article, information, software, ebook or something that your visitor will want (so make your offer's "advertisement" enticing,  appealing or intriguing).  Whatever you do, don't offer "recycled" information or something that every man and his dog is offering, as chances are, your visitor has already got it from someone else's site so will not complete your form!   

You will link this "form" to an automation tool know as an "Autoresponder" (for more details on automation tools, including autoresponders and trackers, take a look at our publication Automation Madezi)

As soon as your visitor clicks the "submit" button on your form  - automation kicks in -  and, providing you've set it up correctly, the following happens:-




The autoresponder will "automatically" send out a message (pre-set by you) to ask the visitor (who filled in the form on your site) to confirm (by clicking a link in the email) that they really do want information from you.

 The autoresponder will "automatically" send out a message (pre-set by you) to welcome and thank the visitor for confirming.  You will also direct them to the page where they can download the "information" that you promised them in your "offer".

 At the same time, the autoresponder will send you an email letting you know that you have a "sign-up".  This "sign-up" is added to your "list".

This "list" is very precious - look after it well - these "people" are your potential customers!

How do you do that?

In a nutshell - by building trust.

How do you build trust?  

By keeping in regular contact with your visitors / potential customers.   Don't be afraid to let people  know what you have to offer - after all, if you don't tell anybody what your product is  - how else are they going to find out? 

Now  building trust is absolutely VITAL -you really cannot escape it - unless you're a very well known name and have already built up trust and a good reputation!    You simply can NOT expect anyone to do business with you until they get to "know" you and feel confident enough in you to part with their money.  


You have to sell "Yourself" before you can sell "Your Product"!

The process of following up your leads (i.e. visitors / customers) with well thought out effective emails, increases their awareness of you (as a person) and your web site (as a business) which, in turn, will make it easier for you to sell your products to them - in fact, it's more than just a process - it's an art.

One look at your website, or one email from you will definitely NOT be enough to gain anyone's trust ..... you MUST keep in regular contact.  I cannot stress it loudly enough

Without consistent and effective follow up you WILL LOSE SALES!

Now, sending an email to your leads on an individual basis is fine when you've only got 2 or 3 people to contact - but imagine the work load in sending to 20 or 30 individual people regularly - or what about 200 - 300 people - and just imagine sending individual emails to  2000,  3000, 5000 .... PLUS as your list of subscribers grows - it just simply cannot be done.

So what's the answer?   

Automation!
